Product Description EMS says: Black Diamond's&#174 smallest pad with a hybrid hinge, the Satellite Crash Pad, is perfect for smaller boulderers. With 3 inches of foam, it cushions, protects sit starts, levels out landings, and maneuvers easily for use on circuits.
Backcountry Store says: Black Diamond reintroduces the Satellite Crash Pad, formerly sold under the Franklin Climbing Equipment name, with the same burly padding and construction that defined this small circuit pad to boulderers around the world. One solid inch of closed-cell foam caps two inches of open-cell foam for a heel-saving three-inch deep landing. This pad is the perfect lightweight supplement to another pad, or it stands alone as a cushy circuit pad. A unique hybrid-hinge design combines one continuous foam top sheet with a hinged bottom section, yielding a pad that folds as easily and compactly as a hinged pad but without the dangerous hinge gap. Black Diamond designed the Satellite specifically for small European cars, so if space is a concern, this is the pad to use. Aluminum buckles, reinforced corners, and double-stitched seams add years to the life of a pad that's meant to get a beat down. Bottom Line: Orbit the bouldering circuit with the Satellite.

What began with a backyard anvil and a hammer has grown into a global company with offices on two continents that's not just for rock climbers, but one that stands for the spirit of the sports we live, their values and goals, past, present and future. Since 1957, our innovative gear designs have set the standards in numerous areas. This is partly the result of dedication, desire and diligence on the part of an incredible team of people. It's also the result of each of us being climbers and skiers ourselves. We're a company of users - it's who we are. We're the greatest dreamers about what could be, and the harshest of critics about what exists and because of this, the creation of Black Diamond is a process which will never end. The company today is more committed than ever, thanks to the many people both here in the U.S. and at Black Diamond Europe whose limitless energy and hands-on involvement have created a promising future for all climbers and skiers worldwide.
